Advancing Research for Pancreatic Cancer Patients

Marcus S. Noel, M.D.
Oncologist, Georgetown Lombardi, Ruesch Center for GI Cancers

Your support is instrumental in funding lifesaving research that will lead to cures — like the groundbreaking work of Marcus Noel, M.D., who is currently involved in two clinical trials involving patients with a new diagnosis of pancreatic cancer that has advanced or spread. These studies examine the use of the chemotherapy drug regimen FOLFIRINOX in conjunction with the experimental drug eryaspase in hopes that the combination will prove safe and improve survival rates.

Another study is focusing on bringing immune therapies to earlier stage GI patients with gastroesophageal cancer that is localized. “I’m passionate about my research,” Dr. Noel says, “because the survival rate for many patients with GI cancer, especially that of the pancreas, is fairly poor. There’s such an urgent need to develop and discover better options for these patients and improve their outcomes.”
