Make a Gift to Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center

Join the #GivingTuesday Movement

#GivingTuesday is a global movement that inspires people everywhere to come together and support the causes that are important to them, such as breakthrough cancer research at Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center.

As a nonprofit organization, Georgetown Lombardi relies on the generosity of the community . . . and friends like you. Please join us on #GivingTuesday and accelerate breakthrough research. Your contribution will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $50,000. That means you’ll make twice the impact on laboratory discoveries that lead to new clinical trials, improved treatments, and lifesaving cures. Please give now.

Make a Difference for People like Navin

Navin Slater-Ranjit has been battling multiple recurrent osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer, since he was nine years old.

“I was limping and I didn’t notice it,” says Navin. “But my fellow classmates and teachers did. My mother took me to the hospital, but they couldn’t find anything. So, I went to Georgetown Lombardi and they found a nodule in the bone.”

Navin was diagnosed with osteosarcoma and began a journey of treatment with Georgetown Lombardi doctors and continues that today. “Dr. Toretsky gives me inspiration,” says Navin.

Navin took part in a study for an experimental drug. And he’s excited he got to help be part of the solution to eradicate cancer.

“I feel like I have helped make a drug to treat people with osteosarcoma,” says Navin.

Advance Lifesaving Research

Gifts to Georgetown Lombardi directly support research, like the innovative work of Marcus Noel, M.D.

Dr. Noel is focused on novel drug development for patients with pancreatic cancer. He currently has two clinical trials in the pipeline. Both of these studies involve the addition to chemotherapy of eryaspase, an agent added to red blood cells that starves pancreatic tumors and stops them from growing.

One study will treat patients with pancreatic cancer in the front line with eryaspase + FOLFIRINOX. Additional treatment studies are available for patients whose pancreatic cancers do not respond to these therapies. “Private donations are critical to allowing continued research at Georgetown.”
