That means you’ll make twice the impact to accelerate cancer research that will lead to new treatments with fewer or no side effects, improved patient care, and lifesaving cures.

Our campaign goal is to reach 130 individual contributions before the Matching Gift ends on May 31. Please give now to have your gift doubled, and to help save more lives!

Personalized, Targeted Treatment

Stephanie Wagner, RN, MS, CCRC, is a recipient of the Stacy Boylan Award, created by the Boylan family to honor an inspiring individual who demonstrates excellence in oncology nursing. Ms. Wagner is currently treating Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center patients that are participating in a new and innovative trial using cellular therapy with tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) to treat certain types of solid tumors. It involves isolating and growing specific cells from the patient’s tumor tissue to make a therapy which is personalized and targeted to their disease.

“Cancer is not just one disease,” Ms. Wagner says. “We are able to target a person’s individual cancer characteristics with the drugs being offered in clinical trials. Hopefully we will find more success with this method and continue to move away from a one-size-fits-all approach.”

“… Something we all feel strongly about.”

Jennifer Montcalm, RN, BSN, is also a Stacy Boylan Award recipient, and she’s deeply grateful for our community of supporters who help her team deliver the very best oncology care available.

“Donor contributions make a difference for people who might feel like they don’t have a lot of options or that their disease has taken everything else from them. Having the opportunity to participate in trials and receive world-class care is something that we all feel strongly about.”
