Georgetown University Impact Report Spring 2019

Dear Alumni and Friends:

I am deeply grateful for your gift to Georgetown this fiscal year. As a part of our family of supporters, your dedication is critical in making a Georgetown education accessible for the very best students who will go on to change the world in countless ways.

Thanks to you, so far this year we have raised $6,847,279 for the Georgetown Fund from 14,492 donors. Your continued investment helps ensure the success of our university’s primary endeavor—educating exceptional students who will go on to realize their fullest potential as women and men for others.

As we welcome the Class of 2019 to the Hoya alumni family, I recognize that many of them would not have crossed that stage without the support of our Georgetown community. Your generosity has not only changed their lives, but the lives of those they will go on to serve in the future. Thank you again for your commitment to the success of our institution, and most importantly, our students.

Sincerely,

Paul Lanzone (MBA’15)
Associate Vice President of Alumni Engagement

With Gratitude

When I thought about what I wanted to do in my life, I always thought about ways to serve others. When I decided on nursing, I was attracted to Georgetown because its program is unique in giving students clinical experience during their first year, but also because our educational experience here is instilled with care for the whole person, or cura personalis.

When I visited campus on a marathon college trip, I knew the Hilltop was where I belonged. I called my Mom and said, “This is it”! I applied to other schools and tried to manage my expectations, but my whole family knew my heart was set on Georgetown. When I opened the letter, I cried like I never had before. When my financial aid package arrived, I knew my dream had come true.

I am so proud to be part of a community that values people from many different places and with many different perspectives. I believe—more than any other thing—that it is scholarships that allow that to happen. And gifts from donors like you make scholarships happen.

I don’t think a single day goes by that I don’t think about how grateful I am to be here. Thank you and please know you are making a huge difference—not only in someone’s life and future, but in the difference they will make in the lives of others.
