School of Medicine

Grounded in the spirit of cura personalis—care for the whole person—Georgetown University School of Medicine educates the whole student to care for the whole patient and community. Since our founding in 1851, we have been preparing talented students to become patient-focused clinicians, researchers, and leaders capable of addressing our society’s greatest health needs.

Today, we are empowering a new generation of professionals who will shape the future of medicine and the health of our communities. We will build on our enduring strengths—our dedication to championing the common good, our renowned academics and interdisciplinary approach, our patient-centered and collaborative mindset—to grow our impact.

Philanthropic support will make this possible, as we seek to offer competitive scholarship packages, attract and retain world-class faculty, provide students with experiential and interdisciplinary learning opportunities, and empower students to meet the varied health needs of diverse populations.

    Supporting future physicians and scientists

“I felt extraordinarily lucky when I received my financial aid packet my first year and saw that all tuition and fees were covered because I was a Mitchell Scholar,” says Perry Diaz, M.D. (M’26). A graduate of Georgetown’s Experimental Medical Studies Program, Diaz enrolled in the School of Medicine thanks to a scholarship from the Mitchell Scholars Endowed Fund, which provides vital tuition support for 12 medical students each year.
