Give through Donor Advised Funds
Giving through donor-advised funds works the same way as giving through check, and you can find our address for mailing checks above. Please list “Georgetown University” and our tax ID of 53-0196603. There should be a place for special instructions, and that is where you can list the designation/fund or purposes here at Georgetown and any other instructions you may have. If the administrator of your donor-advised fund needs contact information, please list giftaccounting@georgetown.edu and 202-687-1690 as our contact information, as multiple people have access and can provide a quicker response to any follow-up questions.
Matching Gifts
Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions made by their employees. The impact of your gift to Georgetown University may be doubled or even tripled! Some companies also match gifts made by retirees and spouses.
If your company is eligible, request a matching gift form (most are available online) from your employer, and send it completed and signed with your gift. If your employer matching gift form is online, please send us an email with the confirmation number, if available. We will do the rest.

Planned Giving
A planned gift may enable you to make a more substantial gift than you thought you could while satisfying your personal, financial, and philanthropic goals. Unlike cash donations, planned gifts are typically made from assets in your estate, rather than disposable income. There are several ways to make a planned gift:
- Giving a bequest through your will or trust offers a way to support Georgetown’s mission for generations while meeting your current financial needs.
- Life income gifts allow you to make a gift and receive income back for life or a term of years—for you or a loved one.
- Whether you have been saving for years or are just starting to build your nest egg, you may name Georgetown as a beneficiary of a specific amount or percentage of your retirement account or insurance policy.
Other creative gift plans provide opportunities to transfer ownership of real estate, personal property or another treasured asset to create your Georgetown legacy.
For more information, or to notify us of an incoming gift, please contact the Office of Planned Giving at plannedgiving@georgetown.edu or 800-347-8067.
IRA QCD Gifts
IRA Qualified Charitable Distributions (IRA QCDs) are a tax-smart way to make a gift to charity while meeting your RMD and realizing income tax benefits. If you are 70 ½ or older, you can direct up to $108,000 to charity each calendar year from an IRA. Simply contact your IRA plan administrator and request a distribution be made to Georgetown directly from your IRA. Check with your IRA administrator about any instructions they may have for QCDs and ask that they include your name with the distribution. Request that checks be sent to:
Georgetown University
Gift Processing
Department Number 0734
Washington, DC 20073-0734
Please notify Georgetown of the incoming IRA QCD at giving@georgetown.edu. Providing the name of your IRA administrator, amount of gift, and gift designation will help assure you are properly credited for your gift.
International Giving
Donors who are not U.S. citizens or who reside internationally can give online, send a wire transfer, mail a gift, or plan for the future, to contribute to Georgetown’s priorities.
For donors who reside in the United Kingdom and greater Europe, please view more details about your giving options through our Giving from the United Kingdom instructions page. Our giving vehicle, The UK Friends of Georgetown Limited, offers tax incentives for UK citizens. Through our affiliation with the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), other European citizens may receive a percentage of tax relief when making a gift. For more information, please email Eileen Flood, administrator of The UK Friends of Georgetown, at ukfriends@georgetown.edu.
For donors who reside in Belgium, German, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Spain, or Switzerland, please consult our TGE details deck for giving instructions.
Please note that gifts to Georgetown from outside the United States may not carry the same tax benefits as they do for U.S. citizens.
For questions or further assistance, please contact Uchral Odjargal, Development Associate for International Development, at uo15@georgetown.edu or 443-996-5062.
Your support strengthens the schools and programs that educate women and men to be reflective lifelong learners, to participate actively and responsibly in civic life, and to live generously in service to others. Thank you for your commitment to Georgetown’s success, today and always.
