We aspire for our coaches and student-athletes to exemplify the excellence and integrity of the Georgetown community.

Core Values

  • Integrity
  • Educational Excellence
  • Competitive Success
  • Community
  • Leadership
  • Successful athletics programs are student-athlete centered, coach
    driven and administrator assisted.

Board Structure and Roles

The Hoyas Unlimited board is composed of up to 36 at-large board members including an executive committee and representatives from each sport, typically the support club president.

Below are the roles and responsibilities of our board members. For a detailed view at board operations, please contact Jenn Austin at Jg1985@georgetown.edu.

Role and Responsibilities

President
In partnership with the Athletics Annual Giving and Athletics Engagement Directors, lead the organization in efforts to support the Athletic Department mission and priorities.

President – Elect
The President-Elect assumes the President’s duties in their absence, partner with the President on all responsibilities, and succeeds the President if the person continues to qualify as a member of the Board.

Secretary
The Secretary oversees the minutes and records, including, but not limited to, the nominations process and officer term limits. They will review and prepare all notices for meetings and other information to be shared with the Board.

Executive Committee Board Members
In addition to the President, President-Elect and Secretary of Hoyas Unlimited, the Executive Committee includes the Immediate Past-Past President, Hoya Hoop Club President as well as 6 other at-large board members appointed by the President. The Executive Committee partners directly with the Directors of Athletics Engagement and Athletics Annual Fund to strategize priorities and tasks for the Hoyas Unlimited Board Committee which they manage.

At-Large Board Member
Hoyas Unlimited Board Members serve as important volunteers on behalf of Georgetown Athletics to the athletics community. At-Large Board Members serve as engaged members of at least one subcommittee and play an integral role in pushing the missions of the Athletic Department and Hoyas Unlimited forward. As ambassadors of the Athletic Department, members are required to attend all scheduled meetings in person or virtually to stay up-to-date on all department priorities and happenings.

Support Club President
Georgetown Athletics Support Club Boards are a subgroup of the Hoyas Unlimited Board and exist to collaborate with the Georgetown Athletics Advancement Teams in supporting its respective sport student-athletes, alumni and parents to create an engaged and dedicated community. In their role, Support Club Presidents serve on the Hoyas Unlimited Board and participate in meetings to stay up to date on department priorities and updates. Members of support club boards focus on the areas of events, fundraising, communications and parent relations as they strive to foster opportunities for student-athletes to thrive both on and off the field.

Support Club Presidents Organize alumni and parent volunteers to create an engaged and dedicated community. Oversee subcommittees that advance the mission by supporting the Athletics Development and Annual Giving teams to fundraise, assist in event planning and communicate with alumni and parents on a regular basis.

All Hoyas Unlimited Board members serve as ambassadors for Georgetown Athletics and might be asked to participate in fundraising efforts for the department. As such, there is an expectation for board members to lead by example and as a group achieve 100% participation by making an annual contribution to Georgetown Athletics of an amount that is meaningful to the individual.

Hoyas Unlimited Board Committees

Committees are led by two to three Executive Committee members and consist of an additional eight to nine at-large board members. Committees are determined based on at-large board members’ expressed interest collected by the President and President-Elect and meet at least twice a year outside of regularly scheduled Hoyas Unlimited board meetings.

Nominations and Awards Committee
Under the leadership of the Nominations Committee Chair, the Executive Committee serves as the Nominations and Awards Committee. It recruits nominees for open positions of officers and at-large members and present a slate of nominees to the Board in the appropriate years.

Support Club Liaison Committee
Partners with one or more support club presidents to provide best practices and support in yearly engagement and fundraising efforts. Along with support club presidents, reports on activity from the support club during Hoyas Unlimited meetings. Members of this committee include board members who are student-athlete alumni, parents, donors, or those with an interest in supporting a specific sport community.

Board Engagement Committee
In partnership with the President, President-Elect and Director of Athletics Engagement, determines content to distribute to the board including but not limited to, meeting notices, Athletic department news, board communication and board specific social engagement.
